ELIZABETHTOWN — A fourth-quarter letdown led to the St. Pauls boys basketball team’s demise in a 56-43 road loss to East Bladen on Friday night.
St. Pauls (3-3) led by one at the start of the fourth quarter but was outscored 22-8 in the final frame. The Bulldogs, who trailed 24-16 at halftime, had pulled ahead in the third thanks to a 2-3 zone that kept the Eagles (3-2) at bay. In the fourth, however, East Bladen found its shooting touch and swung the momentum with timely 3-point shooting down the stretch.
“It was a real physical game, the refs let us play,” said St. Pauls head coach Travis Lemanski, whose team edged the Eagles last week, 72-68. “And they (East Bladen) were more physical than us.”
Jaquan Jones led the Eagles with a game-high 20 points.
Malik Livingston netted a team-high 13 for St. Pauls.
