Cubs Roll Over Warriors

October 11, 2009
By Patrick Keys of Iaeger High School

Iaeger- It was a swamp at Fanning Field Friday night as heavy rains plagued the entire game, but in the end it was the Iaeger Cubs defeating the Wyoming East Warriors 50-20. What hurt the Warriors the entire game was turnovers. East had 5 turnover on their first 5 possessions. Iaeger capitalized on East’s first turnover by scoring on a Trey Bailey 7 yard run making it 6-0. East would turn the ball over and Iaeger took advantage again at the 5:26 mark in the 1st with a Cody “Action” Jackson 9 yard run for pay dirt. After yet another East turnover it was Bradley Kelly scoring from 3 yards out at the 3 minute mark in the first making it 20-0 Iaeger. Another turnover by East led to yet another Iaeger score with Kelly running the ball in the endzone from 44 yards out at the 9:26 mark in the second.  Later in the second it was Kelly again scoring from 15 yards out to make it 34-0 Iaeger in the 2nd. Kelly had 89 yards on 9 carries. East finally got on the board with a Thad Grogg pass to Marcus Schofield for 8 yards on pay dirt. The score at the half was 42-6. Iaeger put on one more score in the second half and East scored a few but in the end it was Iaeger defeating Wyoming East for the final time 50-20. Iaeger was led by Trey Bailey who had 119 yards rushing on 8 carries. Iaeger had only 28 plays all on the ground in the first half that totaled 245 yards. Iaeger is off next week before traveling to Montcalm next Friday.
