Skipwith - The Bluestone Barons celebrated seniors night this past Friday. Several football players, managers, cheerleaders, and golfers were recognized. But the celebration didn't extende to the football field, as the Barons were simply pulverized by the Greensville County Eagles, 50-0.

The game also marked the last time (or at least for now) Bluestone will participate in Division AA of the Southside District. Bluestone has been a member of the Southside District for over 40 years. But beginning the 2011-2012 sports season, Bluestone will be a member of the Division A James River District.

The game opened with Bluestone receiving the ball. The Barons started at their 27. Their first play from scrimmage resulted in a Deion Moseley fumble, which Greensville recovered.

Greensvilles' Akeem Parker scored on the first play of their drive; running 23 yards for the TD.

On Bluestone's next possession, Amotio Smith returned the kick-off to the 20 before being hit and fumbling.

Greensville recovered and three plays later Trevor Moody to it in from 5 yards out for the 14-0 lead.

Bluestones' next drive ended on their 46. Greensville took over on downs around mid-field.

A gain of 4 yards on first down, eventually led to another first at the 39. Harding scored on the first down play for the 20-0 score.

Bluestones' Quashawn Lester returned the kick-off 19 yards to the Barons 42. Runs by Moseley and QB L.J. Barnett were both snuffed for no gain. A 2 yard loss on second down made it third and 12 which led to a Barons punt. The punt traveled exactly one yard to the 31 and the Eagles took over there.

Greensville opened with a 9 yard gain to make it second and one. On second down, a beautiful defensive play by Bluestone's Rasheed Gregory resulted in a Baron's interception.

Starting first and ten from the 41, the Barons loss 13 yards. Facing second and 23, Moseley gained 11 yards back; to end the quarter.

The third down play was unsuccessful and Bluestone turned the ball over on downs. At the 9:10 mark a 30 yard run QB keeper, along with the 2 points extra, gave the Eagles a 28-0 lead.

Bluestone's next series was its' best of the night. Barnett and Gregory hooked-up for an nice pass play that netted the Barons 47 yards. Moseley scored on the next play from the Eagle's 28 but the TD was called back as Bluestone was called for holding.

From this point it went to first and 22 from the 38. But the drive went horribly wrong after this, and the Barons soon faced fourth and a whole lot from their own 25. Bluestone decided to punt, but a low snap resulted in a turnover to the Eagles on the Barons' 14.

After regaining possession, it took Greensville four plays to score again and go to half-time with the 34-0 lead.

The Eagles went on to score two more TD's in the third for the 50-0 victory.
