January 27, 2013
By Gabe Anderson of Heritage Christian Academy Boys Basketball

"We came put stronger then we have all season everybody crashed the boards offensive and  defensive” said senior guard Zach Weld on Heritage's 78-56 victory over New Life Academy. Zach led all scorers with 22 points. The Eagles as a whole were firing on all cylinders and distributed the ball well. All five starters scored in double digits (Weld 22, Pieper 15, Kleinschimdt 12, Basco 12, Bland 10).  They combined for 91% of the teams points with a total of 71 points combinded.

As Spenser Bland explains, the Eagles who are over flowing with talent are beginning to play as a team and not as individuals “We are just beginning to look more for that one extra pass to make the shot go from good to great" said Bland "Plus the more you play with guys the more chemistry you create with one another" The Heritage bench chipped in a combined 7 points (Peterson 4, Furry 1, Esuoso 1, Anderson 1).
New Life came into the game short handed. New Life's sophomore guard John Horner was out with a leg injury. Horner is New Life's third highest scorer with an average of 9.7 points per game. New Life was led in scoring by Conrad Engstrom who had 14 points. New Life’s record fell to 4-4 in the conference and 8-8 overall while Heritage improved to 6-1 in the conference and 15-1 overall. Heritage’s next matchup is a home game against Minneapolis Patrick Henry on Saturday.
