4-7 (3-2) 12-1 (4-1)
The Eagles will be looking for a bounce back game against conference foe Southwest Christian tonight at 730 pm. The Eagles had their 12 game winning streak snapped Tuesday night in a 24 point defeat at the hands of Maranatha. The game will be their first home game since the 17th of December. It is the first home game of the new year. Senior guard Cole Peterson said "It's great to be back home in front of our adoring crowd. We are hoping to put on a show for them".
The Stars are ranked 4th in the conference with a 3-2 conference record with wins against Trinity, Bethany and New Life Academy. The Stars are led in scoring by Luke Johanson at 10.6 points per game. He is the only Star to average double digit scoring numbers. Second on the team in scoring in freshman Jack Jenson with 9.5 points per game. The Eagles on the other hand have four players averaging double digit scoring (Weld 18.5, Basco 15.4, Pieper 12.6 and Kleinschmidt 11.8). Tonights game has the makings of an easy victory for the Eagles.
Also of note, senior guard Zach Weld is 6 points away from the 1000 point mark going into tonight’s game. "Scoring my 1000 point is not my goal for tonight, my goal is to win the game, but the milestone is definitely on my radar" said Weld. Considering that Zach is currently averaging 18.5 points per game and has not put up less than double digit numbers all year, it should be a historic night for the school and for Weld.
