Strength of the MCAA

January 4, 2013
By Gabe Anderson of Heritage Christian Academy Boys Basketball

Once again, the MCAA conference is locked and loaded with talent as seen in their non conference play. For example, Lester Prairie defeated Sleepy Eye Saint Mary's who was ranked #6 in 1A's preseason rankings, New Life defeated state participant from 2012 St. Croix Lutheran by 20, Maranatha defeated a 4A school, number 9 ranked on ESPN top 50 juniors Rashad Vaghn led Cooper 96-94 in overtime and Heritage and West both defeated #4 ranked 1A Lakeview Christian. The conference has two teams in the top 10 1A school rankings. (#1 Maranatha and #3 Heritage). On the strength of the conference senior guard Cole Peterson said "It (the conference) is super strong. There are a lot of tough teams". The winner of the conference has the implications of making a lot of noise in the state tournament.
