Practice Schedule/ Practice Change for Monday/ Park Permits
December 9, 2012By Joseph Wacker of Park Cottage Grove High School Nordic Skiing
WE HAVE SNOW.... I REPEAT WE HAVE SNOW!!!
We will be skiing on Natural Snow at each practice this week. The weekly practice schedule has been posted on the team webpage ( here is the link: http://www.ihigh.com/school32874/schedule.html ). Read through it and take note of what type of skis you will need for each practice this week. Also notice information about the Skate race on Wednesday, in particular what time of day athletes are going to be excused from class. Middle School athletes are responsible for finding a ride from their middle school to their high school before the bus leaves the high schools for the meet.
There has been a practice plan change for Monday's Practice. Originally the plan was to practice at Eagle Valley Golf Course, but since there has been so much new snow accumulation the location for Monday's practice has been changed to Lake Elmo Park Reserve. Below is the address for how to get to Lake Elmo Park Reserve. Once inside the park we will be meeting at the ski trail head next to the new warming house.
Lake Elmo Park Reserve Address: 1515 Keats Avenue North, Lake Elmo, MN 55042
IMPORTANT: All vehicles that go into Lake Elmo Park Reserve need to have a current South Washington County Park Permit. Anyone who uses a county park (county parks include: Lake Elmo Park Reserve & the Ravine Regional Park) needs to have a Park Permit visible on their vehicle while they are in the park. If a vehicle does not have a park permit visible, it's owner can be fined by the county. Park permits can be purchased at the park office located at the entrance of Lake Elmo Park Reserve. A year parking permit costs $25.00 and a daily park pass costs $5.00.00. While there is enough snow on the ground the PWER Nordic team will be practicing at county parks regularly (2-3 times a week).

Final Note: It will be windy and cold on Monday. All athletes should dress appropriately for the weather and bring water to each practice.
