Sooners Rally, Advance to Big 12 Semis

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Sharane Campbell ignited a second-half rally to lead No. 2 seed Oklahoma past No. 10 seed Missouri 70-59 Thursday in women’s quarterfinal action of the Big 12 Championships at Municipal Auditorium.
Campbell, named the league’s sixth person of th
e year earlier this week, scored 22 points. She was 5-of-8 from the field and led the Sooners at the free throw line, going 12-of-14.
Aaryn Ellenberg finished with 12 points, giving her 1,045 career points. Freshman Kaylon Williams recorded her second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Whitney Hand scored 10 points to extend her consecutive game streak of double-digit scoring to 10 games.
The Sooners trailed by as much as 11 points in the first half after shooting just 25.7 percent from the field (9-of-35).
But Oklahoma, which posted its seventh consecutive 20-win season and 16th overall, came out strong after intermission. The Sooners opened the second half on a 17-2 run and never trailed again.
Missouri (13-18, 2-16) was led by Christine Flores and Liene Priede with 18 and 15, respectively.
Oklahoma advances to face the winner of Texas A&M-Kansas in semifinal action Friday at 2:30 p.m.
This is the Sooners’ fourth straight trip to the semifinals.
This likely will be the last game in the OU-Mizzou series for a while. The Tigers leave the Big 12 to join the SEC Conference next year.
