He played at the premier level during his club soccer career for Club Oryx and St. Croix which also included competing with the Minnesota Olympic Development Soccer team.
He attended high school at Hill-Murray and was a 3 year player. A 2 year captain, 2002 Most Valuable Player, 2002 Offensive Player of the year, led his team in points both junior and senior years, 2 time All-Conference, and was a part of the All-State Team his senior year. In 2005, Voeller transferred from Marquette University and played 3 seasons at the University of St. Thomas where he was a 2 time first team All MIAC player, 2007 D3kicks.com All West Region player, 2007 MIAC player of the week, and a 2 time Offensive Player Of The Year for the team. He had 50 total points in his 3 year career which puts him top 10 all time for scoring at St. Thomas. After completing his BA in English at St. Thomas, Voeller played a fall season in the NPSL with the Minnesota Twinstars. Voeller has been coaching for 8 years, full time for 5 years. He has coached at the club level with St. Croix, in which he coached a premier girls team for 5 years which included a 2003 league championship, 2004 Fall Sate Championship, state cup semi-finalists in 2007, and 2008 Kalamazoo Invitiational Soccer Showcase Finalists. At the conclusion of his 5 years with the team, 13 of his players went on to play at the collegiate level. Voeller also has been with the Minneapolis United club since 2008 and lead their U12 boys team to a state championship. Over the past 4 seasons, he has coached the Minneapolis United Boys U15 Black team with accolades including state cup semi finals, district and league championships, as well as competing in the Midwest Regional League. In 2011, Voeller coached a U11 Minnesota Thunder Academy boys team which earned league championship status. Most recently in 2012, he guided the Southeast Soccer Club U11 Boys team to a district championship. At the high school level, Voeller began at Hill Murray as the co-head coach with the girls varsity team. In 2006, he helped guide Hill Murray to a section final, their first section final in over 13 years which included a tie and only blemish on the record of State Champion and #1 Nationally ranked Mahtomedi High School. In 2008, he was named the head boys Varsity coach at Mounds View High School in which he was the 2010 Section 5AA head coach of the year and guided his team to a 2011 Section 5 championship and state tournament birth. During the 2011-12 season, Voeller began coaching at the collegiate level as an assistant coach at Augsburg College with the men's soccer program. In the spring of 2012, Voeller was hired as the first assistant at Hamline University with the men's side and is also the current head girl's varsity coach at Minneapolis South High School. He is the current Director of Player Development at Southeast Soccer Club. Voeller holds his NSCAA National Coaching Diploma and NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma
