Dean joined the staff in 2013 as an Assistant Coach and was recently named the
program's 4th head coach.
Talafous played for the Wisconsin Badgers where he helped the team win a National Championship in 1973 and was named MVP.
He was drafted 53rd overall by the Atlanta Flames in the 1973 NHL Entry Draft. He played 18 games for the Flames before being traded to the Minnesota North Stars. In international hockey he played for the United States in the 1976 Canada Cup and 1981 Canada Cup. In 1978 Talafous signed on as a free agent with the New York Rangers. He retired from playing in 1982 after only playing 29 games for New York that season.

Tom played goalie at Henry Sibley H.S. & played on two State Tournament teams. He went on to play at Augsburg College where his teams were three-time MIAC Champions and were Division III National Champions in 1978.
Tom has 34 years’ experience as a Head Hockey Coach including 4 years as the boy's coach at St. Anthony Village H.S., men's coach at Hamline University for two years, boy's coach at Woodbury H.S. for 14 years, and girl's coach at Spring Lake Park/St. Anthony for 14 years. Tom joined the East Ridge staff in 2013.
Tom has a B.A. Degree from Augsburg College and a Master's Degree from Winona State University. Tom has taught Physical Education for 34 years, the past 22 years at Woodbury Elementary.

High School and College:
Emily was a five-year starting goaltender for the Woodbury Varsity team and a 2008 graduate of Woodbury Senior High. She received All-State Honorable Mention honors, was named All-Conference for four years and was Woodbury's Honor Athlete in her senior year. During the summers she played for the Minnesota Ice Cats select team. In college, Emily played for the nationally-ranked Golden Gusties of Gustavus Adolphus College and also participated in track and field.
Emily has been a part of the program since the 2012-13 season. She has been a counselor and coach at the Dave Peterson Goalie Camp, the Junior Fest and other goalie camps in the area. In the spring, she coaches track and field at Henry Sibley High School.
Emily received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Spanish from Gustavus in 2012 and she is now pursuing a Master's of Social Work at the University of Minnesota.
