Diving Coach BioCoach Bonfig has a long history in the Minnesota swimming and diving world. Her father coached swimming for 34 years at MV and her sister has coached at Elk River High School for 17. She competed in age group swimming for 9 years before switching to diving. After 3 years of diving at Mounds View, she placed 2nd at the State High School meet and earned All-America Honors. She dived her first year at the University of Minnesota, competing at Big 10’s on the 1M and 3M spring boards. She earned her Journalism degree from the U of M in 1987 and worked full-time for 10 years until her 3rd child was born. Coach Bonfig has spent the past 12 years raising her family and started coaching swimming and diving in 2006. She spent two years as the Woodbury assistant diving coach and two years as the girls and boys diving coach at East Ridge High School from 2009-2011. She recently started working part-time as a marketing communications contractor working at 3M. She believes that students can learn valuable life lessons from sports such as goal setting and discipline. In her experience, she has seen dedication to sports tied to dedication in the classroom. |
