Home » Football NewsWe Need Your HelpJune 5, 2012 By Gary Maki of East Ridge FootballRaptor Football Families, We need your help. Participating in high school football on Friday nights is something that the players and the students and fans at East Ridge will remember the rest of their lives. We need to continue the strong traditions established by those families who came before us. We need help from every family – freshmen through graduating seniors – to support and run our successful Raptor football program. The Board members of the Raptors End Zone Club have planned and organized virtually all of the upcoming events. Now in the fourth year of operation, we have traditions in place that make our events so much easier to effectively organize and run – we make adjustments to improve, versus having to do everything for the first time. Sometimes we ask the underclassmen parents to volunteer a particular event so that the parent of those participating in the event can watch their son on the field. Some would call that “paying it forward” with the concept being that someday, another person will do the same for you so that you can watch your son on the field. Sometimes we ask underclassmen parents to volunteer to learn and help us build continuity and tradition into the program. Often upperclassmen parents have helped throughout season as a matter of service and commitment to supporting their son. Many started with smaller items and now are comfortable helping with bigger commitments. If you haven’t helped before, we’d sure like to get to know you! We’re all busy, but helping out can be a lot of fun and a great way to meet people. We have attached a list of our main volunteer opportunities. There should be something for everyone – from the smaller 2-hour one-time commitments to larger organizing events that offer tremendous socializing opportunities and feelings of accomplishment. If you have a passion or interest in something, odds are we can use your help. Here is how you can step up and contribute. Review the Volunteer Needs and Descriptions. Here is a link: 2012 Volunteer Needs and Descriptions. When you see something that catches your eye, contact our Volunteer Coordinator Jeff Masgai at jmasgai@aol.com for more information and to sign up. We greatly appreciate the help of each and every hour of our volunteer help. We are all volunteers, from the board members that spend several hours a week year around being passionate about Raptor football to all of the tremendous family members that help with each event – we all help make it all happen. Check out our website for calendars of activities, and other Raptors End Zone Club activities. Thanking you in advance.
