FOOTBALL: Tigers thrash Commanders for HC win
October 29, 2013Bardstown High School
Bardstown made sure that they controlled the tempo from the start of the game, as senior running back Deion Tonge scored a 2-yard touchdown on a fourth-down play with 5:11 to go in the first quarter.
A two-point conversion made it 8-0 to start the rout.
Bardstown senior fullback Junior Mudd contributed the next two touchdowns for the Tigers to put the score at 22-0 with 7:56 left in the first half.
That was plenty of time for Bardstown to notch 16 more points before the half, scoring with an 83-yard run by junior quarterback Keanu Young (who was playing running back at the time), a 34-yard field goal and a 75-yard bomb from freshman quarterback Santrel Farmer to senior wide receiver Dallan Goldring.
The 38-0 margin at half allowed for a running clock the entire second half, limiting the Tigers’ chances to put up even more points and total yards.
The final score of 45-0 was set after a 12-yard touchdown run by junior running back Austin Mason.
By game’s end, Bardstown’s prolific offense had shredded the Washington County defense for 349 rushing yards, 178 passing yards and 527 total yards.
The Tigers’ defense had also contained the Commander offense, only allowing them 78 total yards.
Bardstown’s final district game will be this Friday night at Shawnee.
