Coach Swift

A Tribute to Hall of Fame Coach Bob Swift

Coach Swift started coaching in 1965 as an assistant at Hancock High School.  He became the varsity coach in 1968, finishing with a 12-11 record.  Coach Swift's career at Lafayette extended from 1969-1993.  During this period he posted 400 wins and 164 losses.  The Lafayette baseball teams won 13 conference championships, 11 district championships, 5 state final four appearances, with 3 state championships.  Coach Swift left Lafayette to become head coach at Marquette.

Marquette's first varsity season was 1995.  They finished with a 7-14 record and did not have another losing season under Coach Swift's tenure.  Coach Swift managed Marquette to 113 wins and 79 losses.  They won the conference in 1997 and were district champs in 2002.

Coach Swift is one of the all time leaders in wins in the state of Missouri with a record of 525-254.  He has been inducted to the Missouri High School Hall of Fame.  More impressive are the hundreds of young men that went onto the college and professional ranks and the number of former players who are now coaching baseball at all levels.

The baseball program at Marquette thanks Coach Swift for his contributions and wish him good fortune during his time away from the game.
