HATLEY - The Hatley Tiger baseball team finished the 2011 season with a doubleheader split against visiting West Lowndes Tuesday afternoon.

The Tigers finished the season at a 6-9 clip, but finished on somewhat of a good note.

The Panthers from West Lowndes (4-11) played the spoilers in the first game. In the fifth inning, Fredrico Moody broke a 2-2 tie with an enormous 2-run homerun off of Hatley starter Russ Johnson.

The Panthers scored two more in the next inning and held on for a 6-3 win.

Sawyer Weaver hit a solo homerun in the seventh to cut the lead to three, but that would be all the Tigers could muster.

"We played pretty good," said Hatley coach Mark Guntharp. "We didn't make any errors, pitched well, just couldn't get a clutch hit when we needed one."

Trailing 2-1 after two innings in the second game, the Tiger offense exploded for eight runs in the third and five in the fourth en route to a 14-4 win in the last game of the season. The Tigers and Panthers will both miss out on postseason play.

In the win, Grant Hawkins was 1 for 3 with three RBI. Tyler Bowling drove in three and scored two and was 2 for 3 at the plate. Johnson was 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI. Hunter Schrock drove in a pair of runs. Chandler Wright and Caleb Walters each had an RBI.
