Amory won the Hatley Tournament over last weekend, Saturday's finals a 77-44 win against host Hatley.
"To have any kind of victory, especially a tournament victory is of great importance," Amory coach Jason Kelly said. "These guys have not won in so long. For them, success, especially against teams they know, it's a real confidence booster. Tournament ball is unlike like any other. There's no prep time. It about who wants it more."
Amory won a thriller Friday to get to the title game beating Smithville 67-66 on a free throw from Jaylon Fair.
Zack Stephenson put back the tying bucket in the waining seconds but Fair was fouled and hit the second of three free throws to win. Amory led by eight at the half. Kelly said Fair arose to the occasion in a very loud Hatley gym.
