Lady Wolfpack Becomes League Champions
March 12, 2009 By Wayne McMaster of Options For Youth-Inland Empire
Congratulations are in order for the Options for youth girls’ soccer team. Their hard work and dedication has shown through as they defeated the PAL Academy last Tuesday, and won the league championship in their inaugural season. The lady wolf pack started off a bit shaky, but it did not last long. By the end of the first half, the OFY team had scored six goals. High scorers of the game include Raylene Hernandez from Fontana who scored four goals, followed by Kati Cummings from Rancho scored with three, and Alma Mata and Diana Cervantes who each scored two a piece. At the final blow of the whistle, the lady Wolfpack found themselves up 11-1 over the PAL academy. Other honorable mentions are Lizette Mata and Chelsea Miller, whose assists and headers helped Options stay in the lead throughout the game. The girls of the OFY soccer team have shown great dedication throughout the soccer season, and were great models of sportsmanship and class as they took on the challenge of playing tough teams from neighboring districts. This victory in the championship game has surely made the Wolfpack the team to beat in next years's soccer season. |
