The Options for Youth boys soccer team has started off the season in full force, winning their first game of the season with a final score of 4-2 against the City of Knowledge School! The game started off with a score for the Wolfpack by Dominic Meza of Rancho 2, who scored a total of two goals, both in the first half. Two other goals were scored in the first thirty minutes, one by Jorge Villalobos of Fontana 1, and another by team captain Nathan Franklin of Upland, giving the Wolfpack a four point lead going into the second half. The second half truly tested the strength of the Wolfpack defense, who allowed only two goals to be scored in the sixty minute game, leaving OFY up by two goals at the final whistle. Other key players in the game included Jonathan Rodas, Mario Castro, Jake Tarin, and Hector Cabral, all of whom put forth a great effort that lead to the Wolfpack victory. In a postgame interview, assistant coach Eric Hale stated that “The guys played well as a team especially with only about 5 practices under our belt. There is always room for improvement, but we were happy as a coaching staff and proud of each one of the athletes.” We are all looking forward to future games, and have the highest hopes for more Wolfpack victories in the coming weeks. |
