South Callaway FFA 2nd Annual Antique Tractor and Car Show
June 17, 2010By Amanda Bowling of South Callaway High School
The South Callaway FFA set out many goals that day besides just raising money and getting their faces out in the community, they set the goal of remembering the past times of agriculture and showing the younger generation not only a piece of the past generations, but the foundation of agriculture. From little kids looking at the tractors and cars and trying to picture it out in the field or an old car driving down the road many years ago. And for some of the local farmers and community members who once driven those same tractors in the field or those same cars down the road in their youth was a day of memories.
As the proud owners stood by their antique tractors and cars they set out with one common goal winning the South Callaway FFA 2nd Annual Antique Tractor and Car Show. Members of the community who came out were able to vote on their favorite antique tractor and car while eating the FFA BBQ and at the end of the day the FFA would announce the winner of the trophy and set of tools. As the day neared to an end the winners were announced. Eli Bartley a South Callaway FFA member with his rare 1950 Sheppard Diesel won the favorite tractor and Curtis Bowling a local community member won the favorite car with his 1965 Ford Mustang.
The South Callaway FFA could not have hosted such a successful event without the hard work of the FFA members and the support of our local sponsors. The South Callaway FFA would like to thank the following sponsors: Sutherlands, One Stop Custom, Wal-Mart, Twillman Feed, La Crosse Lumber, Backers, Brandkamp Industries, C & R Supermarket, Modern Farm Equipment, Kingdom Country Store, MFA, and Mosers.
