Wildcats Cool Off The Blazers With Late Inning Heroics

April 25, 2012
South Bend Riley High School

Jillian Busfield proved that respect for her bat comes at a price.  In the 6th inning last night with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the game tied, Busfield who is hitting an impressive .362 squared to bunt sacrifice her team mate Angie Dainelli home, pulling the Blazer 3rd baseman up and out of position.  In an attempt to get the lead runner, the Blazer catcher fired the ball to third but the ball ended in left field allowing Dainelli to score what proved to be the winning run in last nights defensive struggle.  To make matters worse for the Blazers, Busfield then doubled to right center scoring Natalie Freitag and then scored herself on a double by Imani Ballard.

That was all the Cats needed.  Jackie Logsdon was in full command thru the first 5 Innings with 5Ks and allowing only 2 hits while Cassie Boocher dominated the last two.

The #4 ranked Lady Cats improved to a school record 19-0 (3-0 NIC) and face ranked LPorte tonight at LaPorte's Kesling Park.
