For the first time in Saginaw history the varsity tennis team won district. They left on Thursday for regionals in Wichita Falls . They tried their best at region and played well.
“It was exhilarating to actually have gotten that far, even though we only made it past the first round” said Ashanti Kolombege a sophomore tennis member. They won the first round against Granbury.
“Finally our hard work has paid off” senior tennis member Prisca Pungwe said.
The second round was not as easy. The team had to play Rider and they are known for going to state and sometimes winning. They competed well the score was 5-10. They stop playing when one team gets to ten.
This was a great moment for our new coach and the team members. To continue this celebration there will now be a banner hanging on the tennis courts saying district champs with the names of the students playing and our coaches names.
