Ryle Girls Volleyball Prepares for 2012

The Ryle volleyball team continued its winning tradition last year, going 27-11 and winning the 33rd District once again

Head coach Tasha Lovins lost just one graduate from that group as she enters her 11th year as head coach with a 238-122 record.

“We only lost one senior last year so we are hoping for an even more successful year this year. We return a lot of experience and add several other players to help,” she said.

Returning seniors are Ashlee Howe, Kaylee Keohane, libero Heather Torline and Paige Doellman. Juniors are Alexa Nichols, Harper Hempel and Alexis DeLaGarza. Sophomore Ashley Bush also returns. Hempel and Bush were second-team all-state selections last year.

Freshman defensive specialist Chase Barber is the top newcomer to the rotation.

Ryle starts at Beechwood Thursday, Aug. 9 and will host Dunbar Aug. 13.
