The sectional pairings for the 29th Annual Indiana High School Athletic Association Softball State Tournament Series were announced on Thursday.
In Class 3A Sectional 25 at Crawfordsville, Frankfort will play Crawfordsville in the lone sectional quarterfinal played at 6 p.m. May 20. The winner plays North Putnam in the semifinal. Frankfort swept Crawfordsville in the regular season and North Putnam’s 9-8 record means that the Hot Dogs’ favorable draw could lead to the program’s first-ever postseason victory and advancement to the sectional final.
Southmont-North Montgomery and Lebanon-Western Boone play in the other quarterfinal games set for May 21.
In Class 2A Sectional 38 at Carroll, Clinton Central plays Fountain Central in one quarterfinal, with the winner taking on the Carroll-Sheridan in the semifinals. Delphi and Seeger play in the other semifinal.
In Class A Sectional 54 at Clinton Prairie, Rossville plays Faith Christian and Tri-Central plays Frontier in the quarterfinals slated for May 20, with Lafayette Central Catholic and Clinton Prairie playing in a semifinal on May 21.
Carroll 7, Clinton Prairie 3
Clinton Prairie dropped a 7-3 decision to Carroll on Wednesday. Ryan Walker led the Gophers with two hits and a RBI. Kristian Peters had a hit and drove in two runs, and Seth Cook, Tanner Forsythe and Kyle Stevens all had a hit apiece.
Tri-Central 11, Rossville 7
Tri-Central defeated Rossville 11-7 on Wednesday. Cody Disinger went 3-for-4 with a double and Brayton Cooper also doubled for the Hornets. Levi Ellars took the loss.
The Trojans also hit three home runs, two by Austin Horn.
Clinton Central 10, Sheridan 0
Clinton Central defeated Sheridan 10-0 in five innings on Wednesday. Cole Simmons went 3-for-4 with three doubles and a RBI to lead the Bulldogs. Jeff Scott went 2-for-3 with a double, triple and three RBIs. Six other players had one hit each, with Aaron Russell and Jake Burton driving in two runs each.
Scott and Cayden Parkhurst combined on a three-hitter, with Scott getting the win. Scott allowed two hits in five innings, striking out seven and walking none.
Clinton Prairie 12, North Montgomery 0
Madison Douglass hit her sixth home run in nine games, and her eighth of the season, to help Clinton Prairie defeat North Montgomery 12-0 on Wednesday. Douglass went 3-for-3 and also scored twice and drove in two runs. Jasmine Hanna and Jade Mulvaney both had two hits each, and Tori Martin and Taylor Davis both drove in two runs apiece.
Tipton 165, Frankfort 177
Frankfort scored a season-best score of 177, but the Hot Dogs fell to Tipton 165-177 on Wednesday. Brett Waggoner (42), Zach Robinson (43), Dakota Isgrigg (45) and Kyle Pugsley (47) all shot season lows. Shawn Chambers shot a 51 and Chase Isgrigg 58.
Tipton also won the JV match 180-234. Gabe Kinder shot a 56, Connor Cotton 58, Chris Seibert 59, Xavier Frasier 61 (all season lows) and Alex Rockhold 70.
Tri-Central 176, Clinton Prairie 180
Clinton Prairie senior Grant Doyle earned medalist honors with a 38, but the Gophers fell to Tri-Central 176-180 at Tipton Golf Course on Wednesday. For Prairie, Shane Thomas shot a 43, Alec Vantuinen 48, Jacob Price 51 and Grant Miller 53.
In JV action, Noah Freestone shot a 57, Doug Coapstick 58 and Wes Wolff 67.
Vantuinen, Price, Coapstick, Freestone and Wolff all had personal bests.
Lafayette Central Catholic 65, Rossville 58
Rossville lost to Lafayette Central Catholic 65-58 on Wednesday. The 400 relay team of Jenny Erdman, Sydney Hrdlicka, Sabrah Dickey and Jensen Sheets set a school record with a time of 53.42. Other winners were Lindsay Fife in the discus (103-4.5), Sheets in the 100 (13.02) and 200 (28.77), Lauren Bright in the 1,600 (5:39.02) and Candace Waldron in the 800 (2:59.82).
Rossville 83, Lafayette Central Catholic 38
Rossville routed Lafayette Central Catholic 83-38 on Wednesday. Winners for Rossville were Kyle Davis in the long jump (17-5.5), Elijah Beard in the 110 hurdles (17.40), Devin Hodgen in the 100 (2:15.90) and 200 (25.30), Austin Stewart in the 800 (2:15.90) and 1,600 (5:08.89), Joey Latshaw in the 400 (58.37), Griffey Saylor in the 300 hurdles (48.00) and all three relays.

Lebanon 4, Frankfort 1
Frankfort lost its final match of the season to Lebanon, 4-1, on Wednesday. Emily Michael/Avery Drew won at No. 1 doubles, 8-7 (7-5). Lucy Calvert lost 8-5 at No. 1 singles; Madi Woods lost 8-0 at No. 2 singles; Annie Giebel lost 8-0 at No. 3 singles; and Riley Isgrigg/Rylee Seibert lost 8-4 at No. 2 doubles.
Frankfort 6, McCutcheon 5
Isac Chavez singled with the bases loaded and one out in the seventh inning to score Jacob Miller and give Frankfort at 6-5 win over McCutcheon on Tuesday. Dalton Bush and David Miller both had two this and two RBIs. Gio Lopez and David Miller had two hits apiece, and Enrique Lopez singled with a RBI. Jordan Campbell got the win in relief, striking out two in there innings.
The Hot Dogs are now 13-5.
Stafford Family Eyecare 9, Michigantown 1
Kiyomi Perkins went 3-for-3 with five RBIs to lead Stafford Family Eyecare past Michigantown 9-1 on Tuesday. Samantha Adams went 3-for-3 with a two-run homer and Neveah Rimmer also went 3-for-3 with two RBIs.
Arni’s 8, Frankfort Family Dentistry 5
For Arni’s, Karim Quinones, Skiila Robey, Grace Campbell and Mallory Martin each had two hits, with Quinones and Robey scoring two runs each. Campbell, Martin, Kylie Norman and SyAnne Lashbrook also added strong offense, scoring one run apiece.
Norman and Martin were the strong duo in the pitching circle, each striking out three, with Martin taking the win. Calista Irons, Hailey Cook, Robin Hale and Joci Compton all contributed great defense toward the win.
