Blake Ayers (Frankfort) – Huntington University
Ayers went 2 for 4 with a run scored and a RBI in the Foresters’ season opener, a 7-3 loss to St. Catharine (Ky.) on Feb. 22. One day later, Ayers scored a run in an 8-6 loss to the same team. In the second game on Feb. 23, a 4-3 loss against Northwestern (Ohio), Ayers had two hits, two RBIs and a stolen base.
Dustin Rutledge (Frankfort) – Huntington University
Rutledge got his first start of the season against Northwestern (Ohio) on Feb. 23 as the designated hitter. Rutledge went hitless in three at-bats in a 4-3 loss.
Kyle Zerfas (Frankfort) – Huntington University
Zerfas made his first collegiate appearance for Huntington in its Feb. 23 game against Northwestern (Ohio). Zerfas pitched 1/3 of an inning, allowing one hit in the Foresters’ 4-3 loss.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Aaron Martin (Rossville) – Indiana Wesleyan University
The Wildcats were seeded No. 7 in the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship’s 32-team field and will play Lourdes (Ohio) University in the first round at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
Indiana Wesleyan is 25-6 on the year and made the tournament for the fifth straight year and the sixth time overall in school history.
INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
Sami Silva (Clinton Prairie) and Kiley Simmons (Clinton Central) – Marian University
They competed in the Fred Wilt Indoor Invitational at Anderson University on Feb. 23. Silva finished sixth in the pole vault with a vault of 8 feet, 2.5 inches and Simmons placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.05 seconds.
