Central takes on Northwestern, WeBo, Tri-Central
Clinton Central took on Northwestern and Western Boone in two dual meets last week. Winning by fall against Northwestern were Tallon Surber, Devin Anderson, Trenton McQuinn, Logan Lawler, Kyle Howe and Joe Douglass. Gage Eli won by technical fall and Keegan Padgett won by major decision. Howe also defeated a Faith Christian wrestler by fall.
Winning by fall against Western Boone were Cale Lucas, Lawler, Douglass, Howe, John Moore, Jake Wessel and Devin Walton. Padgett won by technical fall and Lane Anes also won.
The Bulldogs defeated Tri-Central on Monday. Tristan Hoffman, Lawler, Anes, Howe and Surber all won by fall. Eli and Padgett won by decision.
Hornets beat Central Catholic, Carroll
Rossville beat Lafayette Central Catholic and Carroll on Monday night. Between the two opponents, Rossville wrestlers won 14 of the 15 matches, 13 by pin.
Winners against Central Catholic were Hunter Hick (105), Austin Erdman (110), David Hopkins (110), Butch Devaney (115), Josh Guffey (135) and Hick again (105), all by pin.
Winners against Carroll were Dave Devaney (70), Ben Devaney (85), Ben Devaney (90), Jay Smith (100), Butch Devaney (120), Robby Gibson (125), Cole Bodine (130) and Josh Guffey (135).
MIDDLE SCHOOL SWIMMING
Tri-West 95, Frankfort 81 (G)
Tri-West 124, Frankfort 17 (B)
The Frankfort girls’ middle school swim team lost to Tri-West, 95-81, on Tuesday night. Winners for the Hot Dogs were Annie Giebel in the 100-yard IM (1 minute, 16.71 seconds), Kamryn Dehn in the 400 freestyle (5:05.78), the 200 medley relay team of Kiersten Adams, Dehn, Elizabeth Rhoda and Giebel (2:20.27) and the 200 freestyle relay team of Giebel, Adams, Rhoda and Dehn (2:07.51).
The boys’ team lost to Tri-West, 124-17. Prestin Hillman placed second in the 100 breaststroke (2:06.75).
SEVENTH GRADE BASKETBALL
Rossville 28, East Tipp 18
Rossville earned its first road win of the year with a 28-18 victory over East Tipp on Monday. The Hornets (2-0) were led by Maggie Deboy’s 19 points. Julia Malson scored five points and Jayden Murray tallied four points.
Carroll 39, Clinton Prairie 11
Clinton Prairie fell to Carroll, 39-11, on Jan. 31. Jaycee Pletch led the Gophers with four points. Heaven Spencer scored three points and Katelyn Boller and Taylor McKinney scored two points each.
EIGHTH GRADE BASKETBALL
Carroll 40, Clinton Prairie 18
Clinton Prairie lost to Carroll, 40-18, on Jan. 31. Micha Ruiz and Maddi McKinney led the Gophers with five points each. Hannah Blacker scored three points, Shelby Fox and Coriden Schilling scored two points each and Megan Wall had one point. Rosie Tolley was noted for her defense and Chey Grissom for her rebounding.
Delphi 28, Clinton Prairie 25
Delphi defeated Clinton Prairie, 28-25, on Monday night. Micha Ruiz and Chey Grisssom scored eight points apiece to lead the Gophers. Kenzie Martin scored three points and Maddi McKinney, Megan Wall and Coriden Schilling scored two points each. Hannah Blacker was noted for her defense and Shelby Fox for her hustle.
SIXTH GRADE BASKETBALL
Clinton Prairie 36, Rossville 8
Clinton Prairie’s A-team defeated Rossville, 36-8, on Monday. For Rossville, Sarah Allred scored four points and Madison Struck and Madi McMains had two points each. Camryn Geheb, Robin Blackwell and Courtney Rodkey were noted for good rebounding and defensive effort.
Rossville won the B-team team, 20-16. For Rossville, Mica Royer scored eight points, Macy Oliver and Mia Moore scored four points each, and Sydney Marlow and Allie Dunk scored two points each. Rodkey was noted for her rebounding and defensive effort.14
