The draw for the 19th Annual IHSAA Boys and Girls Soccer State Tournament were released Tuesday.
In a Class 2A boys’ sectional at Lafayette Jeff, Frankfort (12-1-1) will play the winner of McCutcheon (3-8-1)-Twin Lakes (10-4-1) in a semifinal at 7 p.m. on Oct. 3. Lafayette Jeff (4-11) and Harrison (8-6-1) will play in the other semifinal at 5 p.m. on the same day. The championship will take place at 7 p.m. on Oct. 6.
In the Class A sectional at Tipton, Rossville (0-16) plays Taylor (2-5) in the lone quarterfinal. The winner takes on Tipton (0-9) while Northwestern (7-2) and Tri-Central (2-5-1) in the semifinals. Times and dates were not available before press time.
In girls’ soccer, Frankfort (4-11) plays in the Harrison Sectional and will take on the host Raiders (5-4-3) in the lone quarterfinal at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The winner gets Lafayette Jeff (3-9-1) while Twin Lakes (0-10-1) and McCutcheon (8-8) play in the other semifinal – both games are on Oct. 4. The championship game is at 4 p.m. on Oct. 6.
In Class A at West Lafayette, Rossville (4-5-1) plays Benton Central (1-9-1) and West Lafayette (8-4-1) and Faith Christian (5-4-2) go head-to-head in two quarterfinal contests. In the semifinals, the BC-Rossville winner takes on the Northwestern (11-2)-Delphi (0-10-1) winner and Lafayette Central Catholic (9-6) plays the WL-Faith victor. Boys’ tennis
Frankfort 3, Danville 2
Frankfort ended its regular season with a 3-2 victory over Danville on Monday. Frankfort winners were Mason Townsley at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0, over Nick Newman; Derek Timmons at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-2 over Nick Steinmetz; and Dalton Bush at No. 3 singles, a 6-1, 6-2 winner over Austin Allen.
Brandon Townsley/David Miller lost to Nick Nelson/Daniel Dieckmann, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles; and Charles Frey/Wyatt Holston lost to Jason Stone/Gage Hollandbeck, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 2 doubles.
In junior varsity action, Dallas Alquezada lost to Zachary Saito, 8-0; Jonatan Lopez lost to Jared Smith, 8-2; Daniel Rosales defeated Grayson Post, 6-3; and Connor Cotton/Preston Carson defeated Tate Marsh/Gary Zhang, 6-1.
Girls’ soccer
Western Boone 2, Frankfort 0
Western Boone topped Frankfort, 2-0, in a Sagamore Athletic Conference match on Monday. Wilda Knecht and Ashley Hieston scored the WeBo goals while also managing 19 shots on goal. Frankfort only had three shots on goal.
Boys’ cross country
Hornets win Central Invitational
Rossville won the Clinton Central Relays on Saturday with three points. Clinton Prairie was second (9), Clinton Central third (11) and Lebanon fourth (13). The Hornets finished 1-2, with the team of Solomon Heffernan, Seth Waldron and Austin Meyers placing first (47:47) and Ben Pettry, Devin Hodgen and Austin Stewart finishing second (47:49).
Prairie’s Blake Lehr, Drew Rodehan and Cy Dieter were third (50:08) and Central’s Adam Miller, Matt Rogers and Cameron Campbell fourth (50:34).
Girls’ cross country
Central wins CC invite
Clinton Central placed first in its Clinton Central Relays on Saturday, narrowly beating Rossville, 7-8. Lebanon was third (9) and Clinton Prairie fourth (12).
Rossville’s team of Hannah Alling, Rena Gascho and Lauren Bright was first (57:19), Central’s Leilah Miler, Maisley Strange and Kelly Fox second (58:21), Prairie’s Stephanie Schrock, Emma Tolley and Chanda Brown fourth (1:01:34), and CC’s Katelyn Ellis, Madigan Strange and Anna Scott sixth (1:02.49).
Middle school tennis
Northridge 5, Frankfort 0
Frankfort lost to Northridge, 5-0, on Monday. Sammy Cheng lost, 8-0 at No. 1 singles; Isaac Grasham lost, 8-1, at No. 2 singles; Nic Kinder lost, 8-6, at No. 3 singles; Dylan Smith/Chase Cotton lost, 8-2, at No. 1 doubles; and Chris Leonard/JT Whitlock lost, 8-3.
