Gophers top Tri-Central
Tri-Central only had two runners – one boy and one girl – in a dual meet on Wednesday as Clinton Prairie easily won the contest.
In the boys’ race, Prairie took the top eight places. Blake Lehr was first (18 minutes, 30 seconds), Drew Rodehan second (19:32), Thomas Hill third (19:53), Cy Dieter fourth (20:30), Austin Biery fifth (20:37), James Morris sixth (20:41) and Merrick McGraw seventh (20:45).
In the girls’ race, Stephanie Schrock placed first (24:21), Emma Tolley second (24:26), Chanda Brown third (26:29), Paige Schoonveld fourth (29:00), Stephanie Sipple fifth (32:01) and Abby Gingerich seventh (35:05).
GIRLS SOCCER
Lafayette Central Catholic 2, Rossville 0
Rossville fell to 4-5-1 on the season with a 2-0 loss to Lafayette Central Catholic on Wednesday. Hornet goalkeepers Lindsay Fife and Bekah McKee combined to make 19 saves while the Hornets only had two shots on goal.
7TH GRADE FOOTBALL
Danville 20, Frankfort 12
Malik King scored both Frankfort touchdowns (kickoff return, rushing) in Frankfort’s 20-12 loss to Danville on Tuesday. Running backs Drew Castillo, Andy Palmer and Kaleb Siebert added to the attack. Damon Moore was noted for his defensive plays.
The Hot Dogs are now 1-3.
Clinton Prairie 30, Clinton Central 12
Sam Schoonveld had multiple touchdown runs as Clinton Prairie defeated Clinton Central, 30-12, on Tuesday night. Travis Biery also had an interception for the Gophers.
8th GRADE FOOTBALL
Clinton Prairie 22, Clinton Central 14
Clinton Prairie defeated Clinton Central, 22-14, on Tuesday. Owen Lloyd was noted for a great catch and then had to fill in as quarterback in the second half due to an injury. Austin Carroll was noted for his play defensively for CP.
MIDDLE SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY
Central boys’ earn win
Clinton Central (33 points) topped Lebanon (37) and Western Boone (56) on Wednesday. CC’s Jake Speitel won the boys’ race with a time of 11:23. Key Taulbee was second (11:25), Colton Crum seventh (11:56), Kaleb Boone 11th (14:24), Tallon Surber 12th (14:42) and Kade Perlee 20th (17:32).
The CC girls’ team had an incomplete score. Payten Kimmell was sixth (14:46), Brogan Sheets eighth (15:13) and Baileigh Richie ninth (15:31). Lebanon won the meet with 15 points. Western Boone also had an incomplete score.
5TH GRADE VOLLEYBALL
Clinton Central 2, Clinton Prairie 0
Clinton Central defeated Clinton Prairie 2-0 (26-24, 25-13) on Wednesday night. Stephanie Summers and Jalynn Gleb led the Gophers in serving.
Prairie won the B-team contest, 2-0 (25-12, 25-18). Adrienne Compton-Coulson, Stormi Borders and Keyra Fisher led the team in serving.
