Frankfort 6, Lafayette Jeff 1
Evan Giebel and Adrian Cruz scored two goals apiece to lead Frankfort past Lafayette Jeff, 6-1, on Saturday. Alfredo Alanis and Cristofer Alconedo also scored goals for the Hot Dogs. Frankfort is now 11-1-1 on the season.
Frankfort and Jeff tied in the JV match, 1-1.
GIRLS GOLF
Hot Dogs seventh in Crawfordsville Sectional
Frankfort finished seventh out of seven teams in the Crawfordsville Sectional on Saturday, shooting a 471. Rel Weber led the Hot Dogs with a 105. Whitney O’Brien followed with a 108, Lauren King 125, Kylie Strode 133 and Heather Hunter 146.
Lebanon won the sectional with a 343. North Montgomery (366) and Southmont (407) finished second and third to advance to the regional.
VOLLEYBALL
Rossville third at Lafayette Jeff invite
Rossville finished third at the Lafayette Jeff Invitational on Saturday. Rossville’s only loss of the day was a 2-0 loss (25-13, 25-23) to a 13-0 Carroll (Fort Wayne) squad. The Hornets (15-3) beat Jeff 2-0 (25-20, 27-25), Peru 2-0 (25-16, 25-9) and Homestead 2-0 (25-19, 25-14).
Brinsley Cooper finished the day with 49 kills, 20 blocks and 15 aces to lead Rossville. Emily Martin tallied 21 kills and 23 digs, Kacie McGill 38 assists and Michaela Miller 24 assists.
Hot Dogs third in Hot Dog invite
Frankfort went 1-2 to finish in third place out of four teams in the Hot Dog Invitational on Saturday. Frankfort beat Carroll (Flora) 2-0 (25-11, 25-12) and lost to Benton Central 2-0 and Class 2A No. 3 Madison-Grant 2-0.
Frankfort’s JV team also placed third with a 1-2 record, defeating Benton Central 2-0 and losing to Madison-Grant, 2-0 and Western Boone, 2-0.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Rossville ninth, Prairie 22nd at New Prairie
Rossville (292 points) finished ninth and Clinton Prairie 22nd (446) in Class A at the New Prairie Invitational on Saturday.
Rossville’s 1-2 combo of Lauren Bright (20 minutes, 27 seconds) and Hannah Alling (21:27) finished seventh and 20th, respectively.
For Prairie, Emma Tolley was 40th (22:55), Stephanie Schrock 51st (23:17), Chanda Brown 79th (24:49), Paige Schoonveld 129th (27:58) and Abby Gingerich 147th (33:17).
Frankfort 12th at Flashrock
Frankfort placed 12th out of 22 teams at the Flashrock Invitational on Saturday. Elizabeth Warwick led the Hot Dogs with a 17th-place finish with a time of 21:21. Kaylee Arthur was 47th (22:19), Cassidy Dubree 57th (22:37), Hannah Calvert 77th (22:59), Alyssa Shirar 80th (23:03), Abby Bautista 134th (24:53) and Catherine Haynes 144th (25:19). There were 177 total runners.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Rossville second, Prairie 24th at New Prairie
Rossville (165 points) placed second behind winner Morgan Township (111) in Class A at the New Prairie Invitational on Saturday. Clinton Prairie was 24th with 544 points.
Austin Stewart was fifth (16:47) to lead Rossville and Austin Meyers was 25th (17:57).
For Prairie, Blake Lehr was 29th (18:01), Cy Dieter 91st (19:39), Ausitn Biery 112th (20:08), James Morris 144th (20:54) and Thomas Hill 168th (21:42).
Hot Dogs 14th at Flashrock
Frankfort finished 14th out of 25 teams at the Flashrock Invitational on Saturday, scoring 346 points. Roncalli was first with 73 points. Cody Bray finished eighth (16:57), Jesse Rcker 49th (18:04), Angel Conde 82nd (18:31), Tyler Douglass 107th (18:58), Sam Regalado 122nd (19:16). Alex Davis 146th (19:54) and Kaleb Emery 161st (20:08). There were 201 runners in all.
