Sectional draw announced
The sectional draw for girls’ tennis sectional at Lebanon was announced on Monday. Lebanon and Western Boone play in the lone quarterfinal at 4:30 p.m. today. Frankfort plays No. 15 Zionsville and Rossville plays the Lebanon/WeBo winner at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the two semifinals. The championship match is slated for 4:30 p.m. Friday.
McCutcheon 4, Frankfort 1
McCutcheon defeated Frankfort, 4-1, on Monday. The Hot Dogs’ lone winner was Alex Taylor, a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Riley Mineart at No. 1 singles.
Madison Jenkins lost to Melissa Moore, 6-2, 6-7 (7-3), 6-3, at No. 2 singles; Hannah Jenkins lost, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, to Kaci Harbison at No. 3 singles; Amelia Zurschmiede/Mady Corrie lost, 6-4, 6-3, to Gabbi Hill/Bri Becker at No. 1 doubles; and Edith Alanis/Hannah Calvert lost to Katie Walker/Regan Guehn, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, at No. 2 doubles.
The Hot Dogs finish the regular season with a 7-6 record.
In junior varsity action, Esmeralda Santos lost to Rachel Sale, 8-2; Perla Castillo lost to Lydia Ausherman, 8-4; Claudia Hernandez/Esmeralda Hernandez lost to Amy Wroblewski/Rachel Ritchie, 8-2; and Gabby Tovar/Alexis Bullock lost to Jordan Foster/Claudia Medrano, 8-5.
BASEBALL
Frankfort 11, Tri-West 6
Isaac Wood threw five shutout innings, exiting the game with a 9-0 lead as Frankfort defeated Tri-West, 11-6, on Monday. Evan Giebel went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Alex Isgrigg went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and one RBI, and Hector Lopez, Ralph Myars and Miguel Alanis had two hits apiece.
Tipton 13, Rossville 7
Rossville lost to Tipton, 13-7, on Monday. Justin Cloud had three hits and Levi Ellars and Steven Holford had two apiece to lead the Hornets. Ellars and Holford also had two RBIs each. The Hornets are now 7-17.
Eastern 4, Clinton Central 3
Eastern scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat Class 2A No. 9 Clinton Central, 4-3, on Monday. Abe Jordan took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits in 2/3 of an inning pitched. AJ Bradley and Levi Smith had two hits apiece for the Bulldogs, with Smith driving in two runs. Bradley, Smith and Jeff Scott all doubled.
BOYS GOLF
Frankfort 10th at Crawfordsville invite
Frankfort placed 10th out of 14 teams in the Crawfordsville Invitational on Saturday at Crawfordsville Municipal Golf Course, shooting a 386. Terre Haute North won the event with a 313. For Frankfort, Evan Kriel shot an 86, William Fisher 92, Shawn Chambers 103 and Brett Waggoner 105.
Logansport 157, Frankfort 187
Frnakfort fell to Logansport, 157-187, at Dykeman Golf Course on Monday. Evan Kriel, William Fischer and Brett Waggoner all shots 45s and Shawn Chambers a 52.
SOFTBALL
Tri-West 2, Frankfort 0
Frankfort was held to three hits in a 2-0 loss to Tri-West on Monday. Rel Weber, Mandi Boggs and Amy Scott had one hit apiece for the Hot Dogs (10-9). Amy Scott took the loss, allowing two runs on four hits with three strikeouts.
BOYS GOLF
Rossville 158, Frontier 208
Anthony Zachman earned medalist honors with a 35 to help lead Rossville to a 158-208 win over Frontier on Monday at Edwood Glenn. Jay Shideler carded a 37, Chris Yoder 42, Austin Miller 43, Kaleb Harness 44 and Conner Remaly 47 for the Hornets.
For Rossville’s JV, Adam Easterday shot a 50, Nick Whittle and Kyle Bordner carded 54s, Austin Disinger 60 and Dylan Disinger 61.
JUNIOR HIGH BASEBALL
Clinton Prairie 22, Clinton Central 17
Clinton Prairie 10, Clinton Central 9
Clinton Prairie defeated Clinton Central, 22-17, in a game that started April 23 and was finished on Friday. For the Gophers (4-1), Jared Stillwell had three hits. Chase Joseph had two hits and a RBI, Kale Morris three hits and five RBIs, and Storm Pennington three hits and three RBIs. Gehrig Forsythe got the win, allowing two runs on two hits in two innings.
Prairie won the second game, 10-9, on Friday. Grant Ream had two hits and a RBI and Storm Pennington had two hits and two RBIs. Kale Morris got the win, allowing five runs on seven hits with nine strikeouts.
