The Irish girls varsity posted considerably faster times than a year ago and easily handled the alumni and community teams.  Alum Heather (Dorniden) Kampf broke her meet record by 27 seconds.  The former Gopher NCAA champion and current professional cruised in 11:23.  The varsity showed why they are preseason state ranked, with perhaps their best showing in the 13 years of the women's race.  The Irish varsity stands 12-1 against the alumni.

The alumni men showed strength up front and considerable depth while easily defeating the Irish varsity 21-36.  The alumni won their fourth straight to take an 8-7 series lead in the 15th edition of the men's race.  With 4-time defending champion Jordan Carlson stranded somewhere on I-90 between Seattle and Boston, recent alum Shane McCallum (Augustana) and Chris Massey (St. Olaf) went 1-2.  Senior Calvin Lehn snuck by alum Tim Kojetin ('08) at the finish.  Kojetin, training at altitude in Colorado over the summer, surpised many when he remained in contention over Burnside Bridge with just over 400 meters to go.

The kids race had a great finish with 29 youngsters participating.
