Wilson Fike falls to RMHS in girls tennis

WILSON - Wilson Fike’s Annah-Claire Summerlin beat Rocky Mount’s Elizabeth Thompson in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 1 singles, accounting for the Golden Demons’ only victory in a 8-1 loss to the Gryphons on Thursday in 3-A Big East Conference action.

Summerlin defeated Thompson 1-6, 6-4, 10-7.

“Annah-Claire showed a lot of determination coming back from the first set to capture her second win over Elizabeth this season,” Fike head coach Lee Matthews said.

Rocky Mount improved to 8-5 overall and 5-3 in Big East play. Fike fell to 3-16 and 0-8 in league play.
