No Glaxo for Gryphons

Rocky Mount's boys basketball team will be home for Christmas, after all.
It was learned Thursday that the team has decided to honor its committment to the Nash County Basketball Tournament (Dec. 28-29), which will be played at Northern Nash this season. The Gryphons had received a last-minute invite to play in the prestigious GlaxoSmithKline Invitational in Raleigh beginning Saturday, Dec. 26.
But playing in that event meant that the Nash County tournament would have but three boys teams and no substitute could be found at such a late date. So the Gryphons will play in Nash County for the first time since 2007.
