Revving up for the start of the postseason didn’t take much time Tuesday for Rocky Mount High’s girls’ soccer team.

The Gryphons, who had not played a meaningful match in more than a week, scored a pair of goals in the first 5 1/2 minutes of action and cruised to a 5-1 victory against Northern Nash in the semifinals of the Big East Conference Soccer Tournament.

Top-seeded Rocky Mount will play host to Wilson Fike in the tournament finals at 5 p.m. Thursday.

“Just the rivalry pumps all of us up,” junior midfielder Sydney Browder said. “Between Northern, Hunt and Fike, that rivalry is always there.”
