RM netters smash Hunt, 8-1

April 19, 2012
Rocky Mount High School

Rocky Mount's boys tennis team evened its Big East Conference mark at 4-4 Tuesday with an 8-1 win over Wilson Hunt.

"Zack (Green), Nish (Patel) and Daniel (Warren) all got their first wins of the season Tuesday," said Rocky Mount coach Barry Nethercutt.  "Zack saved two match points in his singles match and Nish came back in his third set tie-breaker from 7-4 down to win. In doubles, Daniel and Cole (Winnett) were down 4-1 before making their comeback, so I was really pleased with the determination of all three guys.

"Our individual scores improved at just about every match from the first meeting with Hunt so it was a good day for the guys," Nethercutt added.  "We finish the season with a tough stretch, a match with top 10 in 2A Greene Central, then second place Fike and third place Southern Nash next week."
