Home » Football NewsRCHS Rocks Southern with Continued DominationOctober 5, 2009 Rockcastle County High SchoolThe Rockcastle Rockets got back on the winning track on Friday by defeating the Madison Southern Eagles by a final score of 40-12, and the game probably wasn\'t even that close. The Rockets (now 3 wins and 3 losses) dominated the Southern Eagles on both sides of the ball. The team racked up yards on the ground thanks to the hard running of sophomore Clark Rowe and the rest of the backfield, but RCHS also controlled the line of scrimmage throughout the game. The offensive line was fairly dominant as they blasted wholes in the Southern defense which allowed the running backs plenty of room to opperate and rack up yards. Rowe had another stand-out game for the Rocket offense and continues to show a lot of promise for the future. On defense, the Rock shut down the Eagles (now 1 and five) throughout the game. Their one talented threat, their speedster who plays various positions, did get loose for one long score, but the Rockets did a good job of holding him to limited yards overall. Next up for the Rockets will be a major match-up with Knox Central in a meaningful district game. KCHS has given the Rockets a hard game the past two seasons, and playing them on the road will not be easy. Winning will require a strong effort from the Rock and few mistakes. The game will also have a lot to say about who makes the play-offs and who earns a first round home game. Following that contest, the Rock will be out to win their annual homecoming game--this year against McCreary Central High School on October 16th.
