Home » Football NewsRockets Can't Finish Versus PulaskiSeptember 25, 2009 Rockcastle County High SchoolThe R.C.H.S. football Rockets dominated for most of the game Friday, moving the ball at will and racking up more than 400 yards of offense, but it wasn't enough to hold off a visiting Pulaski County team that came from behind to win in the final minutes of the game. Throughout the first half, The Rock offense blew the PC defense off the field by both rushing and passing for first down after first down. By the end of the half, the Rocket offensive line appeared to be blowing holes in the PC defense and the Maroons were on their heels. However, the Pulaski offense was almost as good, hitting on several long pass plays and moving the ball. It seemed like a scoring-fest, until the Rock defense started to stiffen up against PC in the second and third quarters, allowing the home team to take a two touchdown lead into the fourth. However, that lead wouldn't hold as the Rockets made some critical mistakes near the end of the game, turning over the ball and allowing the PC team to hit for a winning touchdown in the final minutes. Sophomore Clark Rowe had a monster game for the Rockets. The running back racked up 329 yards and four touchdowns in an incredible effort and behind a mostly-dominant offensive line and blocking backs. John L. Saylor also added 68 yards. Quarterback Dustin Bishop threw for two touchdowns in the game, but also had two interceptions. The Rock's turnovers proved costly. Rockcastle went to a 2-2 record with the loss and faces a tough Bell County team on the road this coming Friday (9/25).
