Old Town - The Lady Coyotes came into the game versus Caribou after losing a tough game versus their cross town rivals the Orono Red Riots. Old Town improved to 3-2 with a 50-41 victory over Caribou at Old Town High School on Saturday afternoon.
The Coyotes started the game on a 12-0 run. Caribou did not score score their first points until the four minute mark of the opening quarter with Katelynn Tardies’ basket.
Old Town was led by senior Brooke Cole who finished with 11 points, Lauren Martin added eight and Kelsey Maxim chipped in with seven points.
“We played really well defensively and were able to keep the intensity” said Old Town girls coach Dana Maxim.
Caribou was able to keep the game somewhat close with Rebecca McDougal scoring 5 of her 12 points in the second half. Alexa Massey finished with a game high 15 points and Tardie added 12 points for the Vikings.
Maxim said the second half was a different story because the Vikings picked up their defensive pressure.
Old Town will host Foxcroft Academy on Thursday after Christmas. Caribou will look to get their first win after falling to 0-4 when they host Ellsworth on Thursday December 27th.
