Orono girls improve to 4-0 with victory over cross-town rival

Old Town - Senior 6'0" forward Jillian Woodward scored a game high 23 points to lead the undefeated Orono Red Riots to the victory over the Old Town Coyotes 56-49 at Old Town High School on Tuesday night.

The Coyotes made it close throughout the game.

Woodward went 15-18 from the free throw line and 6-6 down the stretch to lead Orono to the victory.

Others that contributed for the Lady Red Riots were Elea Kass who finished with 18 points and Katie Sypher scoring 12 points.

Brooke Cole led the Coyotes scoring eight of her 16 points in the first quarter. Lauren Martin added nine, Kayla Madden and Kelsey Maxim each scored six points, and Kate Rawson and Kelsey Hesseltine each added five points.

Orono shot 73 percent (29-40) from the free throw line. Old town shot 31 percent (4-13) from the charity stripe.

Orono will travel Friday December 21st to face another team that is 4-0 in the Dexter Lady Tigers. Old town will host Caribou on Saturday December 22nd.
