Fraser and Edwards lead Maine to their second win

Boston, Massachusetts - The Black Bears went into the game against Northeastern last night after earning their first win when they defeated Siena. Northeastern was coming off a 67-59 loss to Charlotte in the Alaska shootout title game.
During the game Maine was able to keep the Huskies under 25 percent shooting 22 percent for the game behind the three point line. Maine was led by sophomore shooting guard Justin Edwards and senior forward Alasdair Fraser.
Edwards led the Black bears with scoring a game high 30 points shooting 92 percent (11-12) from the field and five rebounds. Fraser scored 20 points shooting 62 percent (8-13) from the field and 4-6 from the free throw line. The Maine Duo scored 49 of Maine’s total 76 points as a team shooting 46 percent (13-28) in the first half and 76 percent (16-21) in the second half. Edwards and Fraser combined to shot 60 percent for the game.
The Black Bears had 35 total rebounds. Northeastern made it close throughout the game coming up short missing a game tying three pointer shot by Quincy Ford. Ford, Reggie Spencer, Joel Smith and Demetrius Pollard all missed three point shots late in the game to allow Maine to hold on.
Joel Smith lead the Huskies with 19 points shooting 47 percent percent (8-17) from the field and grabbed four rebounds. Spencer scored 16 points and 10 rebounds. Pollard and Ford scored a combined 26 points in the loss. Ford scored 14 points and Pollard added 12. Northeastern shot 41 percent for the game.
Maine will travel to Duquesne on Saturday December 1st to continue their little win streak before they come home to play fisher college on Thursday December 5th. Northeastern will look to bounce back after the loss when they host UMass Tuesday December 4th.
