Hampden - The Hampden Academy Broncos girls basketball team has some experience and youth, but they have depth on this year’s team. The Broncos finished in seventh place last season making it to the quarterfinals. Hampden played Edward Little for the third straight year in the playoffs and lost in a close game.
The Broncos return two starters from last year’s team. Seniors Ellie Webb and Alex Winchester lead the Broncos having played a lot of minutes over the last few seasons. Sophomore Erin Murphy is a very good shooter inside and out, which gives the Broncos a three-point threat. Junior Laura Marquis is a presence whenever she steps onto the floor. Hampden has enough depth where they do not know who will start in any given game. The Broncos team consists of three seniors, six juniors and two sophomores.
Hampden Academy girls basketball coach Chad Bradbury is excited for the start of the regular season on Friday night at home against Bangor. I talked to coach Bradbury and he knows his team will have to play well every night.
