Bangor - The Bangor Rams girls basketball team finished the season last year in ninth place with a record of 9-10. The Rams lost to #1 Cony by 10 points in the quarterfinals at the Augusta Civic Center. The Rams open their season at Hampden Academy on Friday night.
Bangor has a good mix of young and experienced players on their team this year, which will make them a factor. The Rams have great size that will give them an advantage underneath the basket. Bangor is a team that likes to get up and down the floor, which will give teams fits.
The Rams return three starters from last year's team. Senior Denae Johnson is a three-year starter at the point guard position and can run the floor really well, which helps Bangor get into their fast break offense. Senior Jordan Seekins is a great shooter, very quick and gives opponents trouble every night. Seekins and Johnson are both very quick and get everyone else involved.
Bangor girls basketball coach Katie Herbine is in her third season at the school. Herbine is excited about the upcoming season and knows class “A” is going to difficult again this season. I talked to coach Herbine and she is confident they are going to be successful this year.
