Orono boys excited for another season

Orono - The Orono Red Riots boys basketball team finished in eighth place last season losing to Lee Academy in a quarterfinal round game at the Bangor Auditorium. The Red Riots know class “C” is a very difficult league this year, but they are confident they will compete every night.

Orono has a mixture of experience and youth on this year’s team. The Red Riots have size on their roster this year, which they should utilize to their advantage.

Senior guard Corey Riemersma is a returning starter and a three point threat whenever he is on the floor. Senior center Mike Chambers is 7’0” tall and could be a useful tool against teams who do not have a post presence. Senior Jack Lucy came off the bench last season, but is the starting lineup this season. Lucy is a physical player and will give Orono some strength down in the post.

The Red Riots boys basketball coach Jason Coleman is excited about the season. Coleman knows if they can get Riemersma going from the outside than Chambers will have a chance to have some big games this year.
