Bangor - The Foxcroft Academy Ponies boys basketball team has an athletic group once again this season with seven of their 12 players on the roster part of the state championship football team. Longtime Ponies basketball coach David Carey knows his teams has a lot of work to do, but feels his team has the athleticism to compete with anyone this season.
Foxcroft returns two veteran captains from last year's team, which will help them both on the defensive and offensive ends of the floor. Guard Ryan Rebar, who was a starting wide receiver on the football team and Kaleb Smith, the backup quarterback and receiver bring a lot speed to the Ponies roster. Rebar and Smith combined to score 34 of their teams points against Streans at a preseason tournament this weekend in Bangor.
Coach Carey, the comedian he is said "John Bapst is absolutely loaded", when talking about the top teams in class "B". John Bast is good, but not one of the top teams in class "B". I talked to coach Carey about the season. Carey talked about how they are going to utilize their athleticism on both ends of the floor and the depth of class "B".
