Oceanside boys ready to start the season
November 25, 2012By Ryan Kimball of RK Sports Productions
Hampden - The Oceanside Mariners boys basketball team are shaping up to be a really strong team this season. This is Oceanside's second season together after being two seperate high schools forever. Oceanside High School combined the towns of Rockland and Georges Valley together, which makes them a bigger school and potentially to be very good.
Mark Breen's club is very deep with the ability to play nine or ten players in all games this year. Senior Sam Meklin is a presents for the Mariners inside, who attracts a lot of attention giving their shooters on the perimeter open looks. Oceanside will give team fits because they have great post play and guards. Any of their top eight players could start on any given night, which makes them very difficult to stop.
I had the opportunity to talk to head basketball coach Mark Breen about the upcoming season. Breen talked about his expecations for the season and how deep the KVAC conference is in class "B".
