Grinnell, Iowa - Jack Taylor set an NCAA record scoring 138 points for Grinnell College in their win against Faith Baptist Bible 179-104 at Darby Gymnasium on Tuesday night. Taylor has put Grinnell College on the spotlight for the rest of this season.
Not only did Taylor attempt 108 shots, but he took 23 more shots then any college team has this season in a single game. Coming into the game last night, he was averaging 23 points a game and now his average is up to 61 points per game. He shot a staggering 48 percent from the field making 52 of his 108 shots. Taylor attempted 71 three pointers and made 27 of them, which is the most in basketball history.
To put this historical game into perspective, he scored more points then Bevo Francis, who scored 113 points in 1954 for the University of Rio Grande. Taylor outscored Wilt Chamberlain who scored 100 in 1962 and Kobe Bryant's 81 points. Taylor now holds the record for most points in a single game in college basketball history.
