FORMER PROSPECT LEAGUE STAR TO PLAY IN 2014 SiriusXM ALL-STAR FUTURES GAME

Kevin Plawecki, a catcher, was a first round draft choice of the New York Mets in the June 2012 draft from Purdue University. Plawecki played with the Richmond RiverRats in 2010, hitting .308 in 52 games and 211 at bats with 15 doubles, 1 triple and 27 RBI. Kevin also caught Sean Collins no-hitter on June 20th as Richmond shutdown Slippery Rock 5-0.
In 2012 with the Brooklyn Cyclones of the New York-Penn League Kevin hit .250 with 216 at bats. Kevin showed some power with 8 doubles and 7 homers with 27 RBI. The next season Plawecki played in Low-A Savannah, South Atlantic League (.314 6 HR 43 RBI in 245 AB), then the Mets promoted him to High-A St. Lucie, Florida State League (.294 2 HR 37 RBI in 204 AB).
Kevin began the current season in Double-A Binghamton, Eastern League (.326 6 HR 43 RBI 223 AB) and was recently promoted to Triple-A Las Vegas, Pacific Coast League (.214 2 HR 10 RBI 42 AB).
Many prospect forecasters think Kevin could be in New York before the season is over. Baseball America’s 2014 Prospect Handbook shows Kevin as the Mets #5 Prospect.
