Cureton's propels the Richmond RiverRats past the Hannibal Cavemen, 5-1

The Richmond RiverRats (10-12)'s four first-inning runs built an early lead that helped bring home a 5-1 win over the Hannibal Cavemen (11-12) on Monday at Clemens Field.

The Richmond RiverRats scored in the first on , a two-run double by Ryan Leffel, and an RBI single by Zach Fairchild

Luke Cureton led the Richmond RiverRats' offensive threat, as he got on base four times in the game. He scored one run and had one RBI. 

Chad Whitmer put together a nice outing. Whitmer held the Hannibal Cavemen hitless over four innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four. 

Jack Granath got the win, running his season record to 2-1. He allowed one run over five innings. He struck out four, walked four and surrendered six hits.

Josh Thomas (0-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just five innings, walked four, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
