A walk-off single from Michael Paez brought home the winning run for the Richmond RiverRats (5-9) in a 5-4 victory over the Danville Dans at McBride Stadium on Thursday.
Paez racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Richmond RiverRats. He doubled in the third inning, homered in the fifth inning, and singled in the ninth inning.
Austin Conway pitched eight innings and allowed two earned runs, seven hits and one walk while striking out three.
Dylan Alexander racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Danville Dans (6-7). He homered in the fifth inning.
Chad Whitmer improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Richmond RiverRats. He allowed one run over one inning. Whitmer struck out none, walked three and gave up no hits.
Mac Lozer ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just zero innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed no runs.
