Richmond wins finale with road victory

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA. — Richmond ended its 2012 summer with a win.
Derek Trovillion hit a home run, Cody Campbell added an RBI and the RiverRats won their season finale 4-3 at Slippery Rock.
Richmond pushed two runs across in the top of the sixth to take control and erase a 3-2 deficit.
Patrick Van Daalwyk threw five innings to earn the win, while Dylan Sheldon, Peter Spear and Kyle Tibbs combined to give the RiverRats four scoreless innings in relief.
Tibbs struck out three and surrendered one hit to earn a two-inning save.
Trovillion went 2-for-4 to pace the ’Rats offense. Justin Pearson, Jake Mahon, Nolan Earley, Campbell, Ray Delvalle and Tibbs each added hits for Richmond.
Richmond held an early 2-0 lead after the top of the first after a double by Campbell and a throwing error, but the Sliders quickly scored twice in the bottom half to tie.
