8th Boys BC Tourney and West Central

The Rensselaer Central Bombers 8th grade boys basketball team has been busy the past few days. On Saturday the Bombers participated in the Benton Central invitational. In the first game the Bombers extended their winning streak to six games with a 34-17 victory over Carroll. Landon Balch led the Bombers with 14 points, Ben Hillan had 8, Bryce Nesius scored six, Grant Myers had 4 and played lockdown defense on Carrols best player, and Luke Branson scored 2 points and ran the team from the point. In the championship game the Bombers were defeated in a tough battle with Benton Central, 44-40. Grant Myers led the Bombers with a season high 10 points, Bryce Nesius had a season high 8 and Ben Hillan added 8 as well. Landon Balch and Luke Branson each scored 5, with Luke stepping up defensively in this game and Jonathan Hickman rounded out the scoring with 4.
On Monday night, the Bombers returned to their winning ways with a 50 to 20 victory over West Central. The Bombers had 10 players in the scoring column led by Landon Balch with 13, Grant Myers had 9, Luke Branson 7, Jonathan Hickman had a season high 5, Evan Brandenburg and Mark Marzke both with season high’s of 4, and Bryce Nesius, Cody Goodman, Ryne Webb and Kobe Austin each had a bucket. The win moves the Bombers season record to 13-8 and they will play again Thursday at home against Taft.
